In accordance with our Quality Policy, COMSOL maintains a library of hundreds of documented model examples that are regularly tested against the latest version of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, including benchmark problems from ASME and NAFEMS, as well as TEAM problems.
Our Verification and Validation (V&V) test suite provides consistently accurate solutions that are compared against analytical results and established benchmark data. The documented models below are part of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software’s built-in Application Libraries. They include reference values and sources for a wide range of benchmarks, as well as step-by-step instructions to reproduce the expected results on your own computer. You can use these models not only to document your software quality assurance (SQA) and numerical code verification (NCV) efforts, but also as part of an in-house training program.
The vibration modes of a thin or thick circular disc are well known, and it is possible to compute the corresponding eigenfrequencies to arbitrary precision from a series solution. The same is true for the acoustic modes of an air-filled cylinder with perfectly rigid walls. A more ... 詳細を見る
In this model a Knowles ED23146 receiver (miniature loudspeaker) is connected to a test set-up consisting of a 50 mm (1 mm diameter) earmold tube and a so-called 0.4-cc coupler. The receiver is modeled using a lumped spice network and connected to the finite element domain at the tube ... 詳細を見る
In this example, a settlement and heave analysis of a shallow foundation resting on an unsaturated soil stratum is conducted with the Modified Cam-Clay and Extended Barcelona Basic soil models. The effect of pore suction due to movements in the phreatic line and the resulting settlement ... 詳細を見る
A square airbag made of a hyperelastic, compressible neo-Hookean material is inflated using pressurized air. Compressive stresses trigger wrinkling in some regions of the thin airbag. In this example, the wrinkling behavior is modeled using tension field theory, which gives a correct ... 詳細を見る
An axisymmetric model of a rigid piston in an infinite baffle is used to exemplify the Exterior Field Calculation feature of the Acoustics Module. The radiation results provided by the COMSOL Multiphysics® software are compared to analytical results for the on-axis radiation ... 詳細を見る
Experiments on dry and wet soil samples are performed to understand their behavior under different loading conditions. In this example, the Extended Barcelona Basic (BBMx) soil model is used to simulate the wetting and drying paths in partially saturated soil samples under cyclic ... 詳細を見る
This model demonstrates the inflation of a rubber balloon with four different hyperelastic material models. The results are compared with the analytical solution for a thin-walled, spherical vessel. Controlling the inflation of hyperelastic balloons is important in clinical ... 詳細を見る
This example demonstrates the wrinkling phenomenon in a thin sheet stretched uniaxially. The modified membrane theory, which incorporates the wrinkling model, ensures noncompressive principal stresses in the wrinkled region. The analytical results are compared to the numerical results. 詳細を見る
This model example shows how to model nonlinear propagation of 1D finite-amplitude Acoustic waves in fluids using Acoustics Module of COMSOL Multiphysics. The model is based on the 2nd order Westervelt equation. The one dimensional nonlinear wave equation is solved in the time domain by ... 詳細を見る
In this model, sound created by a vibrating piston radiates through a baffled pipe. The impedance is measured and then used in an impedance boundary condition that replaces the surrounding air domain. This technique can be employed to reduce solution time and memory usage for large ... 詳細を見る
